  1. Warm the cream, milk, and 1 cup of dulce de leche in a medium saucepan over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes until blended.

  3. Gradually add the warm cream mixture to the egg yolk mixture while whisking constantly.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium-low heat, stirring continuously until thickened (about 6-10 minutes).
  5. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean bowl; cool in an ice bath before refrigerating for at least 1 hour.
  6. Churn the chilled custard in an ice cream maker according to instructions; add remaining dulce de leche near the end for swirls.
  7. Transfer to a container and freeze until firm (3-4 hours).
