  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes
  • 3 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 3 Tbs tomato paste
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • a sprinkle nutmeg
  • 2 tsp chili powder

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add diced apples, carrots, and sweet potatoes; season with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sauté for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add ground turkey to the pot and cook until no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes).
  4. Stir in tomato paste and chili powder; mix well.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes and stir thoroughly.
  6. Reduce heat to low-medium and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
  7. Optional: If using kidney beans, add them during the last few minutes of cooking.
