  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs, cold
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon aluminum-free baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon fine table salt
  • 1 cup red, white, and blue M&Ms
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup white chocolate chips
  • Food coloring (red and blue)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Mix in vanilla extract and add cold eggs one at a time until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually mix into wet ingredients until dough forms.
  5. Divide the dough into three portions; dye one red, one blue, and leave one plain.
  6. Mix M&Ms into each portion; shape cookie balls by combining red, white, and blue dough pieces.
  7. Place on prepared baking sheets; bake for 10–11 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  8. Cool on a rack before serving.
