  • 4 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup diced strawberries (fresh preferred)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and optional food coloring until smooth. Gently fold in diced strawberries.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick and cut out heart shapes.
  4. Place half of the heart shapes on the baking sheet, spoon filling onto each, then cover with remaining hearts and seal edges.
  5. Whisk egg with cold water and brush over the tops of the danishes.
  6. Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
